Remembrance Day Cover

Canadians recognize Remembrance Day, originally called Armistice Day, every 11 November at 11 a.m.

It marks the end of hostilities during the First World War and an opportunity to recall all those who have served in the nation’s defence.

Our team is excited to share this special Remembrance Day unit as part of our Schoolio Homeschooling content.

What Is Included?

Remembrance Day commemorates all those who have sacrificed for our freedom. Knowledge is power and teaching our kids about these heroes and our history is a powerful thing. We care about our history, our heroes and our children and that’s why we have another FREE mini unit for you to utilize.

The Remembrance Day mini unit covers 5 meaningful lessons:

  1. Why we observe Remembrance Day in Canada -A deeper look at why we observe this special day and what it means for our past, our present and our future.
  2. In Flanders Fields – Your child will learn about why poppies are the symbol of Remembrance Day, the poem and all about the author. And depending on their grade level, they will have the opportunity to share their feelings about the poem in different ways.
  3. Poppy Math – a fun math section all about poppies.
  4. Poppy Stem Project – Your child will have the opportunity to do a unique science experiment with homemade poppies.
  5. Remembrance Day Wreath – Create a beautiful, hand-made poppy wreath to hang in your home or take to a cenotaph on Remembrance Day.
We hope that you enjoy this Free mini Unit. Make sure to share with your friends and family who have children so they can use it also.
